Position Details

Duties Performed in the Usual Course of the Job

The selected faculty member will teach graduate and undergraduate courses in early childhood education on Huntsville campus and offsite teaching locations, and online; supervise field experiences, initiate and collaborate in research activities leading to scholarly publications and professional conference presentations; pursue and secure external grant funding in the area of early childhood education. Will participate in program area, departmental, college, and university meetings and committees.

Educational Requirements for the Position

Earned Doctorate in Education, Early Childhood Education, Curriculum and Instruction, Elementary Education, or related field. Candidates who are ABD will be considered.

Experience Required for the Position

Documented 3 years teaching experience in Early Childhood – 6th grade schools/centers. Advanced preparation in Early Childhood Education. Documented experience in teaching adult learners. Knowledge of standards and research-based curriculum and instruction in early childhood education including EC-6 education. Documented experience in data driven decision making/analysis and assessment. Commitment to teaching in inclusive settings. Evidence of involvement in professional organizations. Commitment to community engagement. Commitment to working with diverse populations and implementing culturally responsive teaching.

Other Requirements for the Position

Strong agenda for scholarly activities including grants as well as publications.
Experience working with field-based school sites. Teach undergraduate and graduate Early Childhood courses. Teach at satellite campus locations, field sites and online, as needed.
